It’s important to consider fibre broadband as part of the home building or renovation process.
Fibre broadband services operate over specific network infrastructure. Like power cables or water pipes, this new infrastructure needs to be installed from the boundary into your property.
We recommend doing this work while your home is being built or renovated. It will mean less disruption down the line when you want to connect to fibre broadband and ensure your home is set-up to meet your future connectivity needs.
There are a few things you can do to prepare your home for fibre broadband – which will make it easier to connect in the future. These include installing a fibre service lead-in, installing structured wiring and a home distribution box, and installing an internal fibre conduit.
All the information you need is available on our Preparing your new home page.
Free pro-active lead-in service
Enable offers a free service lead-in to property owners within our coverage area.
If you're opening a service trench at your property or getting a driveway replaced, it may be worth contacting Enable to install a lead-in.
Contact us on 0800 434 273 between 8.00am-5.00pm Mon-Fri with at least 48 hours’ notice providing the length of the trench, and if there are any bends (and the degree of the bends). We'll then visit and install our red fibre ducting. The service trench must be open and accessible when we arrive on site.
Trench requirements
Please note we require specific industry-standard trench specifications to be met. For details on our trench requirements, you can read more information here or refer to the attachment ‘Installation of Enable’s Underground Fibre Duct’.
